History of Lubbock
Lubbock’s history is diverse and fascinating!
In 1876, the Lubbock County was founded. It was named after a former Confederate Office and Texas Ranger, Thomas S. Lubbock. In 1891, Lubbock became the County Seat. On 16th March, 1909, the Lubbock was incorporated as a city. After the incorporation, railroad service started in Lubbock. Later, as the railroad expanded and agriculture grew, the city became the marketing center and got the name “Hub of the Plains”. As the opportunities increased, the city grew. Texas Technological College was established in 1925, offering a boost to the Lubbock’s economy. It is referred as the “Hub City of West Texas”. It serves as the hub for education, health care and economy, and continues to flourish in several different fields.
